The scheme has had a presence on the Internet for just over two years now. The Trustees decided recently to upgradethe site in a two-stage process.

The first stage involved a makeover of the information that had been maintained on the site since its inception. Graphics and photographs were added and the site made easier to navigate. All these aspects were combined to ensure that anybody who visits the site is under no illusion as to the business of the scheme. As well if you wish to download or print any forms displayed you now have several file options that can be downloaded. Several hyperlinks to other useful sites have also been established.

This first stage was completed in early March this year and members are invited to get on their computer and visit the site and then set it up as one of their ‘favourites'.

Stage two will commence in June this year and will add more useful hyperlinks. It will also increase the amount of information available to members and contain investment comment from our Investment Managers and our Investment Adviser.

The upgrade of the website coincides with discussions the Trustees have been having with the scheme's Administrators — Jacques Martin — to use the site for a greater range of functions than has been possible in the past.

The Trustees are pleased to announce that agreement has been reached in principle with Jacques Martin that the scheme's web site will be further developed in three separate stages to include:

  • The ability by members to update their details on-line
  • The ability by deferred members to make on-line withdrawals
  • The ability by members to access account balances, contributions and associated information on-line.

The Trustees have also been discussing ways to allow more convenient access to the site by members and details of this will be announced once these details are finalised.

Members will be kept informed of developments as they occur.

Member meetings

Members are advised that a programme of member meetings at the Tauranga, Hamilton, Taupo, Kawerau, and Rotorua Brigades is being developed to coincide with the

release of the Trustee Annual Report. It is expected these meetings will be held in the week commencing Monday 02 July 2001. Further meetings are being planned for the New Plymouth, Wanganui, Palmerston North, and Masterton Brigades. Meetings in these Brigades are expected to be held in the week commencing Monday 16 July 2001.

It is hoped meetings in the Wellington Brigade will be held on either Wednesday 05 or Friday 07 September 2001.

Members will be formally advised of these meetings once the dates have been finalised and the necessary approvals obtained. Meantime members are advised to add these tentative dates to their diary.

Time to update personal information

Enclosed with this Supernews is a printout of your current personal information held by the scheme related to your membership number, your name, address and beneficiary details.

Your current password has been included where this has been provided to the scheme earlier.

Also please find enclosed a reply-paid envelope for the return of the form to the scheme if any of the information needs to be updated.

Members are requested to correct the printout as necessary and return it in the enclosed reply-paid envelope as soon as possible but before FRIDAY 08 JUNE 2001.

Members are advised there is no need to return the printout if there are no alterations required to it or you are not changing your password.

Returning the printout in such circumstances benefits only New Zealand Post as the scheme is required to pay for each reply-paid envelope you post.

Members are further advised they may also send any corrected information to the scheme through www.firesuper.co.nz by clicking on one of the ‘to obtain further information' links found at the bottom of each page. Enter your corrected details and send the email.

Members are further reminded that they will not be able to access their account balance details on the freephone until a password has been provided.

This requirement ensures that your personal information cannot be made available to any unauthorised person or persons and assists the scheme in continued compliance with the Privacy Act.

Trustees thank members for their assistance in this matter. Thank you !
